If your air fryer is tucked away in a corner of the kitchen and only comes out once in a while, these ideas were chosen to change that. No complicated recipes or strange ingredients, just ideas that fit into a busy weekday.
Here are 20 air fryer recipes organized by prep time, from 6 to 25 minutes, each with a starting temperature and time. If you only have 10 minutes, go straight to the first group, and if you want to get the week’s lunch boxes ready, look at the last one.
A quick note before the recipes: these recipes were researched, not tested in my kitchen. I gathered the most popular ideas and checked the food-safety temperatures against the USDA’s guidance.
Air fryer recipes by prep time
Choose by the clock: if dinner is running late, start with the quickest ones.
Up to 10 minutes
Frozen garlic bread. 6 to 8 minutes at 180°C (356°F), straight from the freezer, without turning on the whole oven just to heat up some bread.
Breaded banana with cinnamon. 8 minutes at 180°C (356°F). A quick dessert that is lighter than the fried version.
Pita bread pizza. Thin base, tomato sauce and cheese, 8 minutes at 200°C (392°F). Perfect for a last-minute dinner.
Breaded shrimp. 8 minutes at 200°C (392°F), great for when you crave bar food at home.
Frozen chicken croquettes (coxinhas). 10 minutes at 200°C (392°F), no oil and no mess. Check the package instructions too.
Omelet in a mold. Beat the eggs with the filling you like, pour into an air fryer-safe mold and cook for 10 minutes at 160°C (320°F).
Pancake in a small pan. 10 minutes at 160°C (320°F), a practical option for a weekend breakfast.

11 to 15 minutes
Salmon fillet. Simple lemon and herb seasoning, 10 to 12 minutes at 180°C (356°F). One of the quickest proteins on the list.
Breaded chicken without frying. Coat the chicken breast in panko with a drizzle of olive oil and cook for 15 minutes at 200°C (392°F), turning halfway through.
Homemade chicken nuggets. Seasoned ground chicken coated in breadcrumbs, 12 minutes at 200°C (392°F). They are usually ready faster than a delivery takes to arrive.
Hard-boiled eggs in the shell. About 15 minutes at 130°C (266°F), no boiling water needed.
Mixed roasted vegetables. Zucchini, carrot and broccoli with a drizzle of olive oil, 12 to 15 minutes at 190°C (374°F). A great side for any dish.
Seasoned eggplant slices. 12 minutes at 190°C (374°F), a healthy side without frying in oil.
Seasoned cauliflower. 15 minutes at 200°C (392°F), and it becomes a snack with a fried texture without being fried.
Ready-made frozen vegetables. 12 to 15 minutes at 200°C (392°F). Store-bought frozen mixes usually come out crispier in the air fryer than in the microwave.
Baked apple with cinnamon. 12 minutes at 180°C (356°F), a quick dessert with no added sugar.

16 to 25 minutes
Sweet potato fries. Cut into thin sticks, season with salt and paprika and cook for about 18 minutes at 200°C (392°F), so they are crispy outside and soft inside. If you want to get the cut and the browning just right, I explain everything in air fryer sweet potatoes.
Rustic potatoes with skin. Cut into cubes with simple seasoning, 20 minutes at 200°C (392°F).
Pork ribs. Simple seasoning, 20 to 25 minutes at 180°C (356°F) for small pieces, with barbecue-style results without messing up the whole kitchen. Make sure the meat is fully cooked inside.
Whole seasoned chicken breast. A whole piece is ready in about 25 minutes at 180°C (356°F), and it is great for stretching into the week’s lunch boxes.
Want to switch up the meat? Ground beef can also go raw straight into the basket as meatballs, burgers or kofta, and I put together 6 air fryer ground beef recipes with the time and temperature for each one.
Why it’s worth using your air fryer every day
The biggest advantage when life is busy is time. Most of these recipes are ready in 15 to 20 minutes without having to watch the stove, and while the food cooks on its own you can set the table or spend time with whoever is home. There is also less oil, of course, which is the most appealing part of owning an air fryer.
Another advantage few people mention is cleaning. No hot oil splattering on the stove and no burnt pans, just the basket to wash.

How to fit them into your weekly routine
What really changes your routine is having a plan, and one simple way is to give each group a role. For the week’s base, use the ones that stretch: the whole chicken breast, made on Sunday, becomes lunch boxes and sandwich filling, and roasted vegetables and rustic potatoes become a regular side. For low-energy days, keep the under-10-minute ones handy, like pita bread pizza, the omelet in a mold and frozen garlic bread, which sort out dinner without much thought.
And for snacks and weekends, sweet potato fries, homemade nuggets and banana with cinnamon are an easy way to offer vegetables and fruit to the kids. You can also adapt an oven or stovetop recipe: start with a shorter time than the original and keep checking, because the air fryer usually cooks faster thanks to the air circulation. Note on your phone the exact time that worked in your appliance, and next time you will start from the right number.
When your air fryer starts falling short
Older or very small models end up limiting what you can make, like roasting a whole piece of chicken or cooking portions for the whole family. If it is time to replace yours, a compact model is a good choice for a small counter and for anyone cooking for a few people, but if there are four or more of you, check the basket capacity before buying.
Are air fryer recipes healthy? What changes and what does not
One clarification before the recipes: using an air fryer does not automatically make food healthy. Breaded chicken made in the air fryer is still breaded chicken, only with less oil, because what changes is the fat added during cooking and not the food itself. That is why the list mixes lighter options, like vegetables and lean proteins, with more indulgent ones, like breaded foods and desserts.
How to get the most out of your air fryer (and what not to put in it)
Three habits make the difference. First, do not overfill the basket, because air needs to circulate between the pieces, otherwise the food steams instead of roasting. Second, turn the food halfway through, especially breaded items, so they brown on both sides. Third, with meat, check that the center is fully cooked before serving, since time and temperature vary from one model to another and depend on the size of the pieces.
To check that it is done, use a food thermometer: the USDA safe minimum internal temperature chart lists 165°F (73.9°C) for poultry, 160°F (71.1°C) for ground meat and 145°F (62.8°C) for fish and for beef and pork steaks and chops, the latter with at least 3 minutes of rest. Color and firmness are not enough, because only a food thermometer confirms that food is safe.
It is also good to know what to leave out, for safety and to avoid damaging the appliance: very runny batter, like raw pancake batter without a proper mold, loose cheese without a small dish, which melts and sticks to the heating element, loose leafy greens, which fly around with the air flow, and regular glass or plastic containers, which are not made for that temperature. An oven-safe dish usually works, but check your manual.
Many of these recipes also fit into planning the week, because frozen vegetables, garlic bread and croquettes go straight from the freezer to the basket, which helps anyone following our cheap weekly meal plan.
Still have questions?
What can I make in the air fryer when I am on a diet?
Prioritize lean proteins (chicken, fish, eggs) and vegetables with little or no added oil. For light snacks, sweet potato chips, seasoned roasted vegetables and crispy chickpeas work well. A dish becomes “diet-friendly” because of the ingredients you choose, not just because of the appliance.
Do I need to preheat the air fryer?
It depends on the model. Some manuals recommend preheating for a few minutes and others do not, so check yours and, if in doubt, try the same recipe both ways.
Can I cook frozen food straight in the air fryer?
Yes, and it is one of the best uses for the appliance. Garlic bread, croquettes and frozen vegetables go straight from the freezer to the basket, without thawing. Just do not overfill the basket, and follow the time on the package when there is one.
How do I clean the air fryer?
Turn it off, let it cool and wash the basket and tray with water, mild dish soap and a soft sponge. Wipe the inside with a damp cloth, and if the basket is nonstick, avoid rough scrubbers and check the manual.

To wrap up
A good air fryer is one that gets used. Pick three or four from the list for this week and keep the rest as a reference for when the classic question comes up: “what do I make today?”.
